Review: MUA Matte Lipstick - Fawn Fancy

Today I'm going to be reviewing this drugstore product that was recently recommended to me by my best friend. It's the MUA Matte Lipstick in the shade 'Fawn Fancy' (£1) it can usually be found in most Superdrug stores but I ordered this online off of their website so you can probably find it there and if not you can go straight to the MUA website (http://www.muastore.co.uk/).

I feel that the packaging is much more sleek and attractive for this lipstick line compared to their standard line, I think it looks much more high end with the white and silver combination.

I feel that this colour is very similar to a 'Kylie Jenner' lip colour that has been very popular for a while now. It is quite brown/orange toned and doesn't quite suit my skin colour if I'm looking particularly pale but on slightly darker skin tones (like my best friend's) it looks amazing! Although this could just be me not being used to the colour on me yet.

I have to admit that I love the smell of this lipstick, it's sort of vanilla scented? I also don't find it to be too drying, but then again I frequently exfoliate with my homemade lip scrub (which I may create a video tutorial on in the future on this blog). I do prefer to put lip balm on before applying any lipstick so if you have dry lips you may want to do this. I'm not too sure of the longevity of this lipstick but for how affordable it is, I don't really mind reapplying throughout the day.

Overall I am really glad I bought this lipstick as it's such a nice colour for only a pound and is a great addition to my almost non-existent lip collection.

I hope you have a good day and have plenty of things to smile about :)

Oxford Street Makeup Haul

Over the weekend I went shopping in London, specifically Oxford Street and I decided to pick up some makeup because I was running out of a lot of things and had some new products in mind that I wanted to try.

All of the products are from Superdrug but you can get most of these products from Boots too, I just thought it would be easier to pick up the items from the place that stocked all of them (and I haven't sorted a Boots card yet but I had my Superdrug beauty card with me).

So the first product I picked up was the MUA Luxe Lip Lacquer in the shade Reckless (£3). I've been wanting this product for a few months now as I hadn't seen a red that I've really ever wanted to pick up because I'm so pale and I wasn't really sure of wearing bright colours on my lips without being washed out but I had to try this. I put it on as soon as I could and I can safely say that I love it!

I also picked up the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in the shade 010 Light Porcelain (£8.99). I've been needing a new foundation for so long now but didn't want to waste my other foundation (Revlon Colorstay) but as I came towards the end of the bottle I couldn't wait any longer. The colour match was great with the Revlon foundation (a first at the time) but it just didn't sit right on my skin, it was cakey and too matte, I know this was because when I purchased it my face was a little more oily so I picked up the oily/combination skin formulation, but it just wasn't cutting it for me.
So, when I decided to get a new foundation I knew that I wanted something moisturising and made me look dewy and fresh faced, the Wake Me Up foundation came up a few times when browsing reviews online, but I was always thinking it would be too yellow for my skin or too sparkly (from the illuminating shimmers) I was so wrong. This shade was perfect for my cool toned, pale skin and the shimmers looked more natural (and small) so I knew I wouldn't look like a disco ball. I am so glad I picked this up and I guarantee that it is my new holy grail foundation.
Next is a repurchase, the L'oreal Miss Manga Mascara in Black Waterproof (£8.99). I tried this mascara (normal formula) for the first time a few months ago and I love it, but as I have oily eyes I do prefer waterproof mascaras for longer wear so I picked it up, as soon I'll be running out of my current one.
Another new purchase was the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser (usually £7.99 but came up for £5.99... happy surprise I guess). After seeing so many bloggers and instagrammers rave about this, and the primer I was originally going to pick up being out of stock, I thought that I'd give it a try. This primer is amazing, it really smooths the skin and does increase wear time, which I love, but I am worried that I'll run out quickly, not because it doesn't spread well (because it does) but because the tube makes me feel like there may be a lot of air in there but I guess I'll find out. Another thing I don't really get is the 'Only for adults!' print on the packaging... Is it meant to be a joke or what? I think it is but I don't really understand as I feel that the product is aimed at anyone who is into makeup (including those that are younger) especially in the cute packaging.

The last product I'm going to talk about is the Makeup Revolution Aqua Seal Liquid Eye Primer (£3). I got this because I wanted to give an eye primer a try but didn't want to pay too much for one when I didn't really know if they're that likely to work. Also I didn't want a creamy one as I already have oily eyes and I feel like those two wouldn't go well together, so when I saw this in superdrug I grabbed it as I thought that a liquid would dry much faster and lock in colour. It said on the packaging that it can be applied before or after eye products, so I thought it would be perfect as sometimes in a rush I can forget to use primers. I'm yet to try this product over the top of eyeshadows but I'm really pleased with it so far.

That's the end of my haul and I just wanted to say that all of these products were paid for by me and I am not in any way, shape or form trying to brag or show off etc.

I will be reviewing a few of these products in the future.

I hope you have a good day and have plenty of things to smile about :)

Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow

These eyeshadows are widely known across the internet as a fantastic product that rivals many high end cream shadows and now, I can definitely vouch for this!

I was skeptical at first as my eyes are often oily (even when the rest of my face is dry) and this leads to creasing or no eyeshadow by the end of the day, two things that I'd rather avoid. So, when I saw a couple of my favourite bloggers praising these eyeshadows, I wasn't sure. I did some research and after seeing the amazing colours I could get... Well I couldn't resist. I ended up picking two shades so that if it didn't work out it wouldn't be too much of a waste.
I chose the shades Pink Gold and On and on Bronze, two gorgeous colours.

These colours are so pretty, my camera cannot do it justice. I was literally blown away by how gorgeous they are.

The texture is really smooth and they just glide on your eyelids so easily, they're very blendable so you can wear them alone and your makeup still looks like a lot of effort has gone into it. I've used them both as bases and they truly do last for so long, even on my oily eyes, from 7.30AM when they've been applied, all the way to at least 10PM (as long as you don't constantly rub your eyes that is!). I've yet to try them with a primer underneath so I know that I can wear these to events where I wouldn't want to have to top up my makeup because their longevity (for me at least) is fantastic!

The two colours are swatched above and you can see that they're highly pigmented and a little goes a long way with these! This was only one swipe! I've been using this product for just over three months now and my pot is still pretty much full, so it is definitely worth the money (they're roughly £5 by the way) but the only thing I'm not looking forward to is when I start getting towards the end of the pot as it may be a little hard to get the product out with my fingertips, but I suppose I could use a sponge tipped eyeshadow brush so it's not so bad.

So overall, I really recommend this product!

I hope you have a good day and have plenty of things to smile about! :)
